Hi All,

I asked a colleague of mine, John Salas, to take a look at LoGS. He was
intrigued by my (super-short) presentation on LoGS.

His feedback is below.

Hi,

Ok, first it is not easy to download. No link on you main
page to download it. If it is to hard to even download (with
all it dependencies) it will not get wide use. Need to make the
first experience with LoGs (yes, that is the web site and download)
friendly and easy. Broken links, no dependencies, and no links to
dependencies are a bad start for many sysadmins. The nongnu.org
has all the stuff needed to make it work.

     More details below.

I have been looking over the sites found at the bottom
of http://www.hpc.unm.edu/~download/LoGS/links.html and download
links do not exist. May want to remove the links or document it
available via CVS only. I checked it out using CVS with the
command,

cvs -z3 -d:pserver:address@hidden:/sources/logs co logs

At this site no CVS command listed, but it where
I found the dependencies.

http://directory.fsf.org/all/LoGS.html

The links for a version of common lisp also do not
work:

http://directory.fsf.org/devel/prog/lisp/CLISP.html
http://directory.fsf.org/devel/prog/lisp/CMUCL.html

Found these links worked,

http://directory.fsf.org/sbcl.html
http://directory.fsf.org/GCL.html
http://directory.fsf.org/EmacsCL.html
http://clisp.cons.org/
http://www.cons.org/cmucl/

Not sure which lisp is recommended. Assume all those
listed work with LoGs. But it would be nice to know
which you are using.

No link to the requirement CL-PPCRE,

http://weitz.de/cl-ppcre/

     No link to requirement CLUnit,

http://www.ancar.org/CLUnit/docs/CLUnit.html

which really does not have it downloadable. It was very
very slow then fails to connect. Went to CLOCC to get
it (I hope),

http://sourceforge.net/projects/clocc/

No requirements listed at, but where I found the CVS
command,

http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/logs/

     Best Wishes

                                                john
