Is this on eCos? Just curious.

Assuming I'm looking at the same file, the echo.c example uses the raw API.
It may be simpler to look at an example which uses a simpler API such as
the netconn API, or the sockets API.

Your source tree may include a tcpecho.c example program. That uses the
netconn API and is much simpler.

Once you have a good example to start from, it should be easier to add to
it to do what you want to do. For the netconn API (also known as the
sequential API) documentation look at
http://www.sics.se/~adam/lwip/doc/lwip.pdf which is from Adam Dunkel's lwIP
website.
