Hit 'k' while in Lynx to get a list of keys and what they do. Look at the
'z' key which is labeled interrupt. It can be used to interrupt a stalled
transfer (but not a stalled name-lookup unless Lynx was compiled with
-DNSL_FORK). You can also use ^G to abort just about anything ala emacs
although I don't see that listed in the keymap list.
