You're describing an 8-color scheme rendered on PC hardware where you're used
to seeing 16 ("white" would be bold-gray).  The red/blue interchange is
apparently (because I've seen it reported numerous times with ncurses) a
mismatch between a pre-SVr4 color code and the ANSI codes.
