Maybe you thought too much. :-)

Look at http://www.crl.com/~subir/lynx/patches.html, search for https or
SSL.  You can also read the lynx help files, you know.  Just press h in
lynx, follow supported urls (I believe it's link no 4), and http and https
(link no 1).  Then follow links and search for https until you get there.

To the list:  it really is little bit hard to find.  I think the link from
supported urls shouldn't go to lynx links.  Why doesn't it point directly to
the patches page, or, better, to a separate page for https/SSL.
