ELF is a new binary format for unix boxes.  

Linux went to ELF...ummm...about a year and 1/2 ago.  A couple of my boxes
are still soley a.out (which is the old format) because I am too
{lazy,scared,never-found-appropriate-time}.  They are important computers
and are doing their jobs properly without ELF.

This sort of compares to the number of people still running Win3.x when
Win95 has been out for 2 years.  Win3.x won't run Win32 programs, people
are making fewer Win16 binaries and the people who are making Win32
binaries don't always say so resulting in Win3.x people downloading stuff 
that doesn't do anything.
