LYNX-DEV Thanks! DOS Compile works now

I finally got the DOS compile to work. Most of my problems were due to
the fact that I used Winzip to install the files on my Win95 box (which
extracts with long filenames). Even though I was running in DOS mode, I
got errors when trying to compile the files with long names.

When I used an old DOS version of PKUNZIP (v2.04g) to install the files,
most of my problems went away. Now the make command recognizes the
filenames and builds properly.

As long as the files are extracted in 8.3 form by PKUNZIP, I can even do
development with DJGPP under the NT 4.0 DOS shell (or with the GNU-WIN32
bash shell, which is better). It's not necessary to build in a pure DOS
environment. However, I still need a pure DOS environment to load
odipkt.com in order to run Lynx. The NT DOS window won't let me do
that.

I suggest that you make a note in the DOS compile instructions to
indicate that you MUST use a DOS version of PKUNZIP to install the
files. Using Winzip under Windows or NT will create long filenames and
cause problems.

Special thanks to Bill Schiavo, who helped me out with a phone call. I
hope I can return the favor someday.
