Things are going a bit better.
After I configured with --enable-debug, I was able to eliminate editing
the config.status file. Not only that, but the unresolved references
went away (??)
Then I built the app - this time using Solaris curses not ncurses, and
no options. I'm using the Ultrasparc and 2.6 (and Sun compiler).
Boy - it _does_ compile things quickly <grin>.
The resulting executable, all ready to debug, no longer shows the
strange behavior with periods. So I am going to being adding in the
various add in options to see when/if the problem returns.
Once I have identified the option, I will let people know.
