2-6 is > 2 years out-of-date:
goto www.slcc.edu/lynx/release/ for the latest 2-8-1,
which has many new features, improvements, bugfixes etc.
as for Y2K, read the README file, which has a paragraph on the subject:
the short answer for 2-8-1 is: "Yes, AFAWK".
