lynx-dev problems with modem in Lynx

Hi all,

Last weekend I tried to install lynx 2.08 on a friend's computer. The
installation was no probelem. As soon as I want to connect to the net
I get always this error:

invalid com device com4

My friend's modem is connect to com4 so that can not the problem be.
Other dos programms can get contact with the modem.

He have a U.S. Robotics internal 56k6 modem. Comport and irq settings
are correct.

Can someone help me with this problem?
