No, your patch would still be useful. The "Printable" stylesheet
relies on advanced features[1] (placement-type="simple",
http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/maposmatic/ocitysmap.git/tree/stylesheet/maposmatic-printable/osm.xml#n3142)
that is only available in Mapnik-git and next Mapnik 2.1 so we'd
probably depend on a fairly recent Mapnik.

Regarding dependency in README, I would prefer to depend on an
official version (2.0, 2.1, ...) than on a random commit.
