The University of Bologna has started a Master Program in:
Free and Open Source Software Technology (M-FOSSET)
Tecnologia del Software Libero e Open Source
It is a non residential course (lectures are given primarily on fridays
and saturdays). It is intended both for graduate students to focus
their education on Free and open Source Software but also for
professional programmers and ICT specialists to update their knowledge.
The choice of a non residential school makes possible for
students throughout north Italy to join the master and for employed
people to harmonize the continuous education with their work.
It is a school in Technology: the component of laboratory activity is
quite high. All the courses about ICT are twofolded: there is a theory
part, but there is also a lab, let me say a hacking, section.
There are also courses of Economics and Law.
It has been designed as a 60 credits, 1 year school.
All the info about the master (in Italian unfortunately) can be found
at:
http://www.almaweb.unibo.it/m-fosset.html
I am very interested to discuss with colleagues that are running similar
schools in Europe (and also overseas) like Barcelona (UOC) and Pisa.
We have to learn each other from our experiences.
I have seen the wonderful idea to create a common denominator of the
syllabi for european masters on Free and Open Source Software.
I have just joined this group, now I am looking forward to work together
with you all.
renzo
(director of m-fosset)
