please can you provide the following?:

1.) network trace of communication between monit and mysql

2.) what mysql server version is used?

New Monit user here.

I have set up monit to monitor mysql on localhost. I don't allow
anonymous login. However, in a previous thread on this list, I read:

"The protocol test however solves the case, where the anonymous user
has no permission to connect to mysql - in such case the access is
refused immediately by mysql ('access denied'), which is interpretted
by monit as correct mysql response (i.e. athentication process failed
as expected)."

So, I would expect the protocol test to succeed. However, it fails as follows:

[GMT Jun 14 00:09:13] error : MYSQL: error receiving login response
[GMT Jun 14 00:09:13] error : 'mysql' failed protocol test [MYSQL]
[GMT Jun 14 00:09:13] info : 'mysql' trying to restart

When I try to manually connect mysql from the command line, I get the
expected result:

ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user

Any idea what is going wrong?
