My best guess on this is that monotone/boost is at some level using rename() to move stuff about, and that this is failing on Win32 (NB: I've not looked at the code, I'm only guessing here). I'll be able to look at this, but probably not until Thursday. If someone else wants to take a look, the MSDN docs tell me that MoveFile() should do everything we want.
