IIRC, this would be as simple as making constants::keylen bigger or
configurable.
Also I *think* I heard some mention of possibly migrating to some
variety of elliptical keys, but I can't find that now.

Not yet, but (like everything else but the kitchen sink ;-) that should
come when we get policy branches.
