Yep. Even tried it on a different system, a recent Linux Mint
-- same thing. Do you provide a filename after the first ^O?
LC_ALL=C src/nano -I -B ChangeLog

"File was modified since..."
When I repeat the above steps, a backup does get made of xxx,
but never of ChangeLog. So nano does not _really see the file
as changed, it is just confused at that specific point in src/cut.c.
(By the way, ./configure does not check for the presence of
makeinfo and curses.h -- make simply failed on their absence.)
