Oh.  Okay.  Apparently I am too used to the default behavior of
showing the first tab with one position less that the rest.

Updated in git, b18bcbbe.  Thanks.

(Personally I will continue to use -x4 because I use it together
with -#4, which makes it easy to check alignments.)
