Cool.  But... in Firefox ^D should create a bookmark, ^N a new
window, ^W close a tab, ^G search next, and so on.  The only
control combos that don't seem to do anything are ^E and ^Y,
but that's not enough to make the bottom-bar shortcuts work.

The removal of the <hr> doesn't make it prettier in my eyes.
It is a stand-in for the status bar.
