I tried to compile nano-4.9.2 for windows on a Ubuntu 1804 instance, didn't succeed. Are there instructions to set that up quickly? Nothing in the nano site about that, from what I saw.
https://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/nano.git/tree/README.GIT needs improvement. Build system needs comments.
I can also just make the trivial changes in a separate branch and get them reviewed if I get commit access. Instead of the convoluted path which I am highly unlikely to take.

rename src\proto.h to src\prototypes.h
consider https://repo.or.cz/w/tinycc.git , section about anon access.
or allow anonymous access using a separate git repo. ensure file endings of files, precommit hooks are handled on your side, if more contribution are desired.
