Follow-up Comment #1:

I can't reproduce this problem on an AMD 64 system running Debian and using
the Debian packaged version of Octave 3.2.4.

Did you compile Octave yourself?  If so, what configure arguments did you
use?

If not, then maybe you should report the problem to the people who packaged
Octave?

It would also be helpful to know whether anyone else using Fedora on a 64-bit
system duplicate this problem.
