Follow-up Comment #1, bug #31468 (project octave):
For compatibility I agree that it would be nice to change the Octave parser
to handle cell arrays of strings for this purpose.
As a workaround until that is coded, the UNIX standard of using "n" for
newline works.
title("HellonWorld");
produces a 2-line title using gnuplot 4.4.0 and Octave dev.
