Follow-up Comment #5, bug #31512 (project octave): I think JWE is right. You might want to try the following code in Octave and Matlab. format long rem([2; 2.1], 0.1) ans = 0.0999999999999999 0.1000000000000000 As you can see, 2.0/0.1 leaves a remainder when calculated with binary numbers which would not be the case for base10 numbers.
