not completely sure this is a bug really. the following line results in an
error but does not return the line at which the error occurred.

octave3.2:2> clear; idx=find([1 2]==3), a(1).a=1; a(2).a=2; b=a(idx); foo(b)
idx = [](1x0)
error: Invalid call to deal.  Correct usage is:

 -- Function File: [R1, R2, ..., RN] = deal (A)
 -- Function File: [R1, R2, ..., RN] = deal (A1, A2, ..., AN)

function y=foo(x)
