Details:

I attempted to build octave-3.3.91 on target x86_64-redhat-linux (recognized
as x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu by octave) using
gcc version 4.1.2 20080704 (Red Hat 4.1.2-50)

Octave was configured with
./configure --prefix=$INSTALL --without-curl --enable-bounds-check
--with-blas=/usr/lib/atlas-sse2/libptf77blas

The installed program starts up with a segmentation fault.  I attach output
from valgrind and gdb, as well as the configuration summary produced by
configure.
