Follow-up Comment #2, bug #32482 (project octave):

There is a simple way to make this come out
as intended:  resize the window.  It would
be expected, I think, that drawnow would have
the same effect, but it does not.  It appears to
do nothing.

I treied several changes followed by window resize,
and they all worked so far.  This is not proof that
resize always works...

This issue (display does not get updated when
changes are made) has been noticed in other contexts,
and I think there is a recent bug report on this.

I will try to find the other report to reduce
confusion.
