>From a octave session:

octave:1> diag(zeros(1,0),1)
ans = [](0x0)

In matlab, it looks like this:

>> diag(zeros(1,0),1)
ans =

I'm quite sure octave also returned 0 in earlier versions, so this seems to be
a regression.  I'm using a build from my distributor (openSUSE 11.3,
Packman-repository, octave 3.4.0-1.pm.1.7).
