Follow-up Comment #2, bug #34950 (project octave):
This likely works for Windows, but it does not
for Linux.
ls -l *.log (this works for matlab)
fails at line 58:
with: regexprep: unrecognizeed option
replacing line 58 of ls.m with:
args = args{:};
produces Matlab-compatible results for
this simple case, but is probably not the
whole solution.
