Follow-up Comment #2, bug #34962 (project octave): According to http://www.gnu.org/software/octave/FAQ.html#MATLAB-compatibility "There are still a number of differences between Octave and Matlab, however in general differences between the two are considered as bugs." It seams an issue to me. I noticed the different behavior while using a ML derived code.
