Follow-up Comment #2, bug #37398 (project octave):
Indeed the gnuplot version number was not correctly set - it was not set at
all. I corrected that in my gnuplot build.
Right now I suffer from the problem described in the "Default not
compiling"-thread on the mailing list, so I cannot provide a valid output of
the run-octave command.
But I am pretty sure the problem was on my side with the wrongly built
gnuplot. So thank you for your suggestion ans sorry for the noise.
