Follow-up Comment #1, bug #37914 (project octave):
The second argument is a pattern, so in this context the '(' is a grouping
operator. The escape character is required to treat it as a literal:
octave:1> regexprep('Hello _ ( ) ','(',')')
ans = Hello _ ) )
