Follow-up Comment #5, bug #38280 (project octave):

For the specific case I'm referencing, gcc is gcc:

$ gcc --version | head -n2
i686-apple-darwin10-gcc-4.2.1 (GCC) 4.2.1 (Apple Inc. build 5666) (dot 3)
Copyright (C) 2007 Free Software Foundation, Inc.

$ g++ --version | head -n2
i686-apple-darwin10-g++-4.2.1 (GCC) 4.2.1 (Apple Inc. build 5666) (dot 3)
Copyright (C) 2007 Free Software Foundation, Inc.

I get the same results even if I use gcc-4.7.2 to build Octave.
