Follow-up Comment #4, bug #39795 (project octave):

This works for me as well.  I'm using hg id aa09b746fa16 which is very recent.
 A lot of work has been going on around the FLTK toolkit and maybe if you
update to the tip of the development branch you'll find this has been fixed.
