Follow-up Comment #2, bug #40759 (project octave):
To catch such unintended overwriting there's already the
"File exists - Replace? Yes No"
pop-up.
Now, what would you expect Octave to do if you click "Yes" in that pop-up?
(I would expect Octave to obey the explicit, user-confirmed intention to
overwrite the file, rather than an error message. But OK that's just me :-) )
