Follow-up Comment #16, bug #41202 (project octave): My patch was made before the latest testing by Michael. It generally works, and is maybe good enough, but it is not exactly equivalent to Matlab. They seem to base their decision to echo or not based on whether the call path has descended through a function or through a script. My decision was based on the call depth and whether the current calling instance was a function or a script.
