Here is a little m-script to demonstrate the behavior:

close all; clear all;
input('Please rotate with mouse, done?');

You can rotate the resulting 3d plot with your mouse. But afterwards the view
command will always return the values [-37.5,30], regardless of what viewpoint
you rotated to.

With fltk as graphics_toolkit this behavior is absent. There you will get the
the proper viewpoint results from the view command.
