Follow-up Comment #1:

Did you try Ctrl-C in the Octave GUI's command window to interrupt what Octave
was doing? Are you able to reproduce this with your data and try Ctrl-C to see
if you can interrupt Octave and get the prompt back?

If the GUI is really unresponsive and does not respond to Ctrl-C, then this
may be a bug. Otherwise, this is the expected behavior when you combine
vectors with outer dimensions such that broadcasting applies to produce a
22500-by-22500 matrix.
