Follow-up Comment #2:

Thanks for your bug report. Confirmed here in Windows XP as well. Crash occurs
with either Qt of FLTK figures but not with Gnuplot.

This may be related to timing in OpenGL rendering, or may be limited to
Windows XP only as Avinoam suggests.
