Update of bug #40712 (project octave): Category: Octave Function => Libraries _______________________________________________________ Follow-up Comment #1: Thanks for your bug report. I can confirm what you are seeing with the current development version of Octave. I can also confirm that building Octave with --enable-64 allows your examples to work. So that might be another viable path to pursue for working with datasets of the size you are talking about, sparse or not.
