Follow-up Comment #2, bug #44627 (project octave):

I made mistake in my description, sorry. The opening curly brackets are typed
on German keyboards by pressing AltGr+7 or alternatively Ctrl+Alt+7 (both work
in GUI terminal and editor). Likewise, for the closing curly brackets I use
AltGr+0 or Ctrl+Alt+0 (both work in GUI terminal, neither works in GUI
editor).

And in fact, Ctrl+Alt+0 is the shortcut for "Zoom Normal"! After changing the
shortcut to Ctrl+0, I can now enter the closing curly bracket by with both
AltGr+0 and Ctrl+Alt+0.
