Follow-up Comment #2, bug #45063 (project octave):
Sorry, i read an incorrect answer on the web.
set(gca,"fontsize", 6)
is implemented and works.
And, is correctly described in the manual:
fontsize: scalar, def. 10
Size of the font used for axes annotations. See [fontunits property], page
367.
