In general, gnuplot 5.0.0 is buggy. 
I recommend to make change of octave code not for 5.0.0 but for 5.0.1.

But, Fedora 22 is currently on:
gnuplot-common-5.0.0-8.fc22.x86_64

So, things may change again soon.
