Follow-up Comment #3, bug #45721 (project octave):

The issue is not reproducible on my system. I am observing the same as
described by mike even when following your steps to reproduce. When starting
the script from within the editor, the preference "Set focus to terminal ..."
in the terminal preferences tab determines the where the focus is after the
command is executed. Does this preference affects the issue on your system?
