Follow-up Comment #14, bug #48326 (project octave): I don't see a point in patching the failing test until we can fix mkstemp. And I don't think we want to encourage changes that use the less safe tempname function when mkstemp should be preferred (when Matlab compatibility is not an issue). If anything, I think a better workaround would be to replace all carriage returns in the r4 character array (I apparently wrote this a while ago but hasn't been pushed since we are still debugging here).
