Follow-up Comment #62, bug #44916 (project octave): The ssh issue referred to below definitely depends on both of the 2 systems involved. But, some combinations which run glxgears and other X11 tests correctly do not run Octave plots (usuallly hangs). On the other hand some combinations currently do not run glxgears, so the faults are not all due to Octave. I would be better to keep this and the print issue separate.
