Follow-up Comment #1, bug #49028 (project octave):

The issue seems to be there on development version as well.  The issue seems
to be on logical indexing a struct array when one of the elements is empty:

octave> p = struct ();
octave> p(2).channel = "A";
octave> p(3).channel = "B";
octave> p(4).channel = "C";
octave> [p.channel]
ans = ABC  ## note that this does not include the empty value
octave> [p.channel] == "B" ## so the indexing array is missing the first
ans =

  0  1  0

I'm thinking this may not be a bug after all.
