Follow-up Comment #2, bug #49039 (project octave):
The following packages ARE installed on my Ubuntu 14.04 sytem:
* libportaudio0 18.1-7.1
* libportaudio-dev 18.1-7.1
* libportaudio2 19+svn20140130-1
* libportaudiocpp0 19+svn20140130-1
The following packages ARE NOT installed:
* portaudio19-dev
Sorry, but I am not enough of an Linux expert to tell why Octave comes to
wrong conclusions about my installed portaudio packages.
When I remember right, older Octave versions told me that portaudio was NOT
found at all (let me know if you want me to again run the configure script of
an older Octave release).
