Follow-up Comment #17, bug #49386 (project octave): The "cstrings-patch" has just been applied to the default branch. So I think the only remaining issue (that has so far been mentioned in this bug report) are utf8 characters in the GUI console of Windows Octave. Could we change the title accordingly? (This might help to not totally loose track of all those current text incoding bug reports...)
