Follow-up Comment #9, bug #46034 (project octave):
In Octave, these properties are now available from the format() function. Try
'help format' on the dev branch.
Usage:
[FORMAT, FORMATSPACING] = format
FORMAT =
short
FORMATSPACING =
loose
This won't help for stable unless the change I made in this cset from a few
weeks ago is backported.
