Follow-up Comment #9, bug #49996 (project octave):

regarding butter, I don't think the problem is cplxpair. the error comes in
the output of butter, and matlab's cplxpair also throws an error if you pass
it those values. So cplxpair is at least behaving 'compatibly', but the output
from butter is not in this case.
