Follow-up Comment #10, bug #51632 (project octave): A simpler approach might be to just include the pkg rebuild command in the octaverc that gets executed on first launch. (I have checked this and it works, and it would be a simple bugfix). If there's a way to detect this is the first launch via some sort of flag, and only launch this once, even better; I've noticed there's a separate "octave-fistlaunch.vbs" script in the root folder: perhaps an environment variable can be set that is checked for within octaverc?
